<p>Rosalía de Castro’s poetry offers a significant literary intervention and serves as a powerful counter-narrative within 19th-century Galicia by engaging with themes of cultural suppression and linguistic marginalization. This study examines how her work functions as a counter-narrative that both reflects and critiques dominant cultural discourses of the time. Drawing on Mikhail Bakhtin’s theory of dialogism, the analysis explores the multiplicity of voices in select poems of Galician Songs (<i>Cantares Gallegos</i>) and how these voices articulate a complex and situated Galician identity. Rather than idealizing cultural resistance, the paper situates Castro’s writing within a broader historical and political context, highlighting its role in shaping cultural memory and linguistic consciousness. The study further considers the contemporary relevance of Castro’s poetry in discussions of minority language preservation and regional identity. While the analysis focuses primarily on one text, it provides insight into the role of literature in cultural negotiation and the continued resonance of Castro’s work in modern Galicia.</p>
