Unveiling the Emotional Terrain of Infertile Couples: A Systematic Review of Psychotherapies in the Indian Context
摘要
Infertility has emerged as a significant and pressing issue in contemporary times. From a global standpoint, 1 in 6 adults experience fertility challenges worldwide. The current study aims to understand the psychological distress that Indian infertile couples experience, as well as the effects of psychological therapies on reducing this distress within the Indian population through Systematic Review. Indian Research studies from Frontiers, PubMed, SCOPUS, MEDLINE, Shodhganga, and other relevant journals were accessed and reviewed following the PRISMA guidelines. From the literature search, it was found that various psychological factors, such as depression, anxiety, and stress, were discovered to be commonly experienced during the journey of infertility and its treatment process. The utilization of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Couple Counselling, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Relaxation techniques, Psychoeducation, and integrated approaches of the psychotherapies have proven to be highly effective in treating psychological distress of Indian infertile patients and have also been shown to improve pregnancy outcomes. The findings of the study will be helpful in identifying the research gaps, current trends, and advanced psycho-therapeutic methods to deal with the psychological distress related to infertility.
