<p>The specialty of urogynecology deals with pathologies of the female pelvic floor. These diseases, such as pelvic organ prolapse or incontinence often cause significant levels of suffering in affected patients. The symptoms and complaints are often not addressed in the gynecological routine check-up because the patients feel ashamed. This article aims to emphasize the importance of taking a thorough medical history. Moreover, it provides an overview of the most important examinations used in the field of urogynecology. The focus is on describing the basic urogynecological diagnostics which can be performed in any gynecological practice and are often sufficient for making a diagnosis.</p>
