Application of RAMD analysis of cloud computing architecture by Markov birth–death process
摘要
Cloud computing refers to the delivery of computing services, including servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics, and intelligence, over the internet. It offers flexible and scalable resources that can be easily accessed and managed by users on demand. The primary objective of this study is to determine the outcomes of a reliability examination of a cloud computing architecture using the reliability, availability, maintainability and dependability (RAMD) analysis. The system under consideration comprises five integral subsystems: hardware, hypervisor, virtual machine, load balancer, and DNS. To assess the performance of the proposed system, state transition diagrams are constructed for each subsystem, capturing their dynamic operational and failure rates. The governing equations for the Markovian birth–death process were derived from these diagrams, which are instrumental in determining the reliability of the entire system. Within this analytical framework, RAMD analysis plays a significant role in evaluating the dependability of cloud computing infrastructure. Moreover, it is assumed that the failure and repair rates of each subsystem follows exponential distribution, and the system has a sufficient repair facility available at all times. Additionally, a numerical example is presented to highlight the practical significance of the proposed methodology.
