Innovative approaches to fire-resistant building materials: a review
摘要
This review paper explores recent advancements and innovative approaches in the development of fire-resistant building materials, aiming to enhance fire safety in construction. Through a comprehensive analysis, key findings and insights are synthesized, highlighting emerging trends and promising strategies for mitigating fire risks. Novel material compositions, including intumescent materials, nanocomposites, and bio-based alternatives, offer unique properties to inhibit fire spread and minimize fire severity. Surface treatments and coatings, such as flame-retardant coatings and self-healing technologies, provide additional layers of protection, while innovative structural designs and engineering solutions demonstrate effective fire mitigation strategies. However, challenges remain in developing standardized testing methods and regulatory frameworks to ensure the reliability and effectiveness of fire-resistant materials. Case studies and applications illustrate practical implementations and underscore the importance of sustainability considerations in material development. Looking ahead, collaboration among researchers, industry stakeholders, and regulatory bodies is crucial for driving further innovation and ensuring widespread adoption of fire-resistant materials, ultimately creating safer and more resilient built environments.
