Children’s science language: a semantic arabic ontology approach
摘要
This paper proposes an ontological model for an Arabic language learning environment. Leveraging a newly created corpus of educational resources, an ontology that represents scientific concepts with their semantic relations to support structured vocabulary learning of children. Built on top of the Protégé environment and underpinned by the foundations of standard Arabic grammar, the ontology includes concept taxonomies, synonymy, and domain-specific relations. The evaluation shows good lexical coverage and curriculum content overlap, suggesting that the ontology effectively comprises the main scientific terms relevant to children. This research further supports NLP-oriented knowledge representation and provides available services for Arabic learning.
