Removal of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances in a Large-Scale Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant: Performance, Key Factors, and Modeling

Removal efficiencies of 25 PFAS in a WWTP during a long-term period were evaluated. PFBS and PFBA were the predominated PFAS in the influent and effluent of the WWTP. A2/O bioreactor with secondary sedimentation contributed 49.3% for the PFAS removal. Correlation analysis identified the critical influencing factors for the PFAS removal. Regression modeling established predictive models for PFAS removal efficiencies.
