Measurement of the geomagnetic cutoff rigidity for cosmic rays with the alpha magnetic spectrometer
摘要
This paper presents a method to determine the geomagnetic cutoff rigidity using data collected by the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS).
MethodsThe geomagnetic cutoff rigidities are derived by fitting a transition function to the ratios of measured cosmic-ray event-rate spectra at different locations to the reference in regions with the lowest cutoff rigidities.
ResultsThe geomagnetic cutoff rigidities measured on a
This method enables precise measurements of the geomagnetic cutoff rigidity directly from measured cosmic-ray data, without relying on geomagnetic-field models.
