<p>This article examines the paper-based collection of the visual artist Cláudio Pastro (1948–2016), currently housed at the Monastery of Our Lady of Peace (MNSPAZ). Pastro was one of the leading figures in contemporary sacred art, dedicating his work to the creation of images that not only expressed the beauty of the sacred but also guided the gaze of the faithful toward a profound spiritual experience. His most emblematic work is the iconographic project of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida in São Paulo. The research conducted on the original drawings from the monastery’s collection seeks to highlight how Pastro was able to translate, through the image of the Good Shepherd, an aesthetic-theological vision of divine care. In his lines, the figure of the Shepherd is not merely a visual symbol but becomes a channel for spiritual and theological experience, manifesting Christ’s love, protection, and guidance of his flock. The delicacy of his lines, the balance of forms, and the aesthetic intentionality present in his studies reveal an artistic sensibility guided by a profound lived faith. The study of this material was conducted using theoretical references from the visual arts and theology, applying the methodology of genetic criticism, which investigates the artist’s creative process. This method establishes a continuous dialogue between preparatory drawings—sketches, studies, and annotations—and the final work, allowing for an understanding of how Pastro visually structured the relationship between art and spirituality. Access to this unique collection made it possible to identify the most frequently used materials in his creative process as well as the essential themes that permeate his work. Specifically in the case of the Good Shepherd, his drawings reveal a fusion between art and faith, in which divine care is expressed both in visual form and in its underlying theological meaning. Thus, the work of Cláudio Pastro not only illustrates but also embodies through aesthetics the mystery of Christ who cares for, guides, and gathers his flock.</p>
