Objective <p>To evaluate the efficacy of photobiomodulation (PBM) in the treatment of patients with Burning Mouth Syndrome (BMS) regarding salivary changes, pain symptoms, dysgeusia, oral health-related quality of life, and anxiety and depression levels.</p> Method <p>This uncontrolled experimental study included 19 patients treated with weekly applications of red and infrared laser light (100 mW, 6&#xa0;J/cm², 30&#xa0;s/point) for eight weeks. Assessments included the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), xerostomia, salivary flow, dysgeusia, the Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14), and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS).</p> Results <p>Participants were predominantly female (mean age 63 years) and reported burning and stinging sensations. VAS scores showed clinical improvement, while the OHIP-14 indicated improvement in oral health-related quality of life. No substantial changes in xerostomia, dysgeusia, or salivary flow were observed, and HADS scores showed a trend toward improvement.</p> Conclusion <p>The PBM protocol demonstrated efficacy in reducing BMS symptoms and improving quality of life.</p>

Objective
