Purpose <p>To analyze the therapeutic action of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) to improve xerostomia and hyposalivation in Sjögren’s Disease (SD).</p> Background <p>SD is a chronic autoimmune disease that causes inflammation, primarily affecting the salivary and lacrimal glands, leading to dry mouth and eyes. Treatment focuses on symptom relief through patient education, artificial saliva, specific eye drops, and oral medications. Recently, LLLT has shown promising results in improving xerostomia by promoting the photobiomodulation of glandular tissues.</p> Case report <p>A 49-year-old female patient presented dry mouth, unilateral facial swelling, parotid pain, and dry eyes. Elevated Anti-RO, Anti-LA, and ANA titers were detected, and MRI showed diffuse enlargement of the salivary glands, suggesting autoimmune sialadenitis. Labial biopsy revealed lymphocytic infiltration, and sialometry confirmed hyposalivation (0.04&#xa0;ml/min), which findings were consistent with SD. An adapted protocol was followed using MM Optics Duo Portable Laser with low-intensity laser: infrared (880&#xa0;nm, 1&#xa0;J, 100 mW) for major salivary glands and red (660&#xa0;nm, 0.5&#xa0;J, 100 mW) for minor intraoral glands. After five sessions, salivary flow increased to 0.3&#xa0;ml/min, and after ten sessions, it reached 0.6&#xa0;ml/min, with reduction in xerostomia from 8 to 2, demonstrating significant improvement.</p> Conclusion <p>This case demonstrated photobiomodulation as an effective therapy for improving hyposalivation and xerostomia in SD.</p>
