Hitzeschutz in der Pflege: Eine deutschlandweite Befragung in stationären Pflegeeinrichtungen
摘要
Climate change is leading to increasing heat stress. In residential care facilities, heat is associated with an elevated health risk for residents and nursing staff. In view of predicted heat waves and the shortage of skilled workers in the healthcare sector, heat protection measures are essential. The aim of this survey was to assess the implementation of heat protection measures based on the TOP principle (technical, organizational, personal) and their practical feasibility in German residential care facilities. Between October 2023 and May 2024, an online survey was sent to 1161 such facilities. 98 responses were included in the analysis. 77% of the facilities reported heat stress among employees, which primarily manifested itself in sweating. Facilities with more employees reported heat stress significantly more often. On average, 12 out of 22 measures were implemented. Facilities without heat stress reports implemented an average of two more measures. High costs and a shortage of skilled workers currently make it difficult to implement sustainable structural and organizational measures.
Practical Relevance: The survey analyses heat stress and heat protection in residential care facilities and identifies gaps in implementation. The results are intended to help derive recommendations for effective heat protection in residential care facilities.
