<p>The article examines the hybridization of human and technical work performance in the context of artificial intelligence (AI) as a&#xa0;new key technology, analyzing its developments, implications, and potentials for human-centered work design. Building on the observation that AI increasingly transforms cognitive activities, the concept of the “Hybrid Man” outlines a&#xa0;new understanding of humanity that captures the close interconnection between human and machine intelligence. This development entails profound challenges: the boundaries between human and technical performance are becoming blurred, questions of responsibility and legal uncertainty arise, and new competence requirements such as “AI literacy” emerge. At the same time, issues of transparency, explainability, and acceptance of AI systems gain prominence, as they are crucial for trust and sustainable integration. Alongside the opportunities to relieve and expand human capabilities, hybridization also poses risks such as surveillance pressure, adaptive stress, and negative psychological strain. Against this background, the article proposes the concept of eudaimonic well-being (“Eudaimonia”) as a&#xa0;normative criterion for shaping the future of work—one that fosters growth, meaningfulness, authenticity, and excellence. The overarching goal is an interdisciplinary, human-centered world of work that leverages the potentials of AI without compromising employees’ mental health, self-efficacy, or dignity.</p>

The article examines the hybridization of human and technical work performance in the context of artificial intelligence (AI) as a new key technology, analyzing its developments, implications, and potentials for human-centered work design.
