<p>Saponins are emerging as promising eco-friendly insecticidal agents due to their ability to combat major insect pests affecting crops and stored grains. Unlike conventional chemical pesticides, which often pose risks to human health and the environment, saponins provide a natural alternative with unique modes of action. This review explores the insecticidal properties of saponins, including their repellent and deterrent activities, disruption of insect molting processes, and induction of cellular toxicity. Saponins have been shown to reduce food intake, impair digestion, cause weight loss, delay development, decrease reproductive capacity, and increase mortality in insect pests. The review also examines the mechanisms underlying these effects, the limitations and challenges in utilizing saponins, and their potential integration into sustainable pest management practices. By summarizing the current research, this work highlights the role of saponins as biorational insecticides, offering valuable insights for their application in integrated pest management (IPM) strategies to safeguard agricultural productivity.</p>
