<p>The relationship between linguistics and literary studies has repeatedly been the subject of debate within German studies. After several years of estrangement, there are currently tendencies of rapprochement along common topics and content, in which this article can also be categorized. Coming from the field of cultural linguistics and focusing on questions of interculturality, it addresses the topic of <i>language(s)</i> and <i>belonging(s)</i> in literary texts of multilingual writers. More precisely, it deals with the question of which subjective experiences of inclusion and exclusion, which emotions and which discourse positioning along language become visible in these texts. The starting point for this is the concept of lived experience of language. By combining this concept with positioning theory and analysis I develop a&#xa0;new linguistic method for analyzing literature in the field of subject-centered research into multilingualism. The insights gained into language-related questions of belonging, emotions and positioning are then illustrated using a&#xa0;chapter from Dinçer Güçyeter’s novel <i>Unser Deutschlandmärchen</i>. In this way, it can be shown in what extent literary texts can be seen as important voices –&#xa0;especially dissenting voices&#xa0;– in public discourses on language(s) and belonging(s). In addition, it illustrates the interfaces that arise between linguistics and literary studies through the examination of topics and content which are of interest to both disciplines.</p>
