摘要

We report the sighting of a new albino individual of Carcharhinus galapagensis at Malpelo Island, Colombia. The specimen, an adult male of > 250 cm total length, was observed and filmed on May 1, 2026, at a depth of 24 m. The specimen exhibited homogeneous white coloration across the entire body and fins, with normal dark retinal pigmentation, in addition to slight malformations in the lower lobe of the caudal fin and the posterior margin of the right pectoral fin. This finding represents the second record of albinism in the species for the same locality, suggesting possible inbreeding processes in the resident population of Malpelo Island.
