<p>Present study aimed to explore the status of growth and well-being of fifteen commercially important species of leiognathids using the length-weight relationship (LWR) and relative condition factor (<i>Kn</i>) from the two important fish landing centres (Royapuram fishing harbour and Pazhaverkadu fish landing centre) located on the Southeast Coromandel coast of Tamil Nadu. A total of 3,767 specimens were sampled biweekly from April 2024 to March 2025 in the commercially operated trawl nets and gill nets. The maximum length (L<sub>max</sub>) of leiognathid species in Indian waters was updated for four species namely, <i>Karalla daura</i> (20.5&#xa0;cm), <i>Nuchequula gerreoides</i> (14.8&#xa0;cm), <i>Deveximentum interruptum</i> (8&#xa0;cm) and <i>Equulites berbis</i> (11.8&#xa0;cm). A new record of LWR documented for two species (<i>Equulites elongatus</i>, <i>Photopectoralis aureus</i>) from Indian waters. The growth coefficient ‘<i>b</i>’ values ranged from 2.5733 (<i>Deveximentum ruconius</i>) to 3.6739 (<i>Deveximentum insidiator</i>). Additionally, <i>Kn</i> value of all 15 species were found to be more than 1.0 which indicate that those species are exposed the optimal environmental conditions for their growth. This research would significantly enhance understanding of leiognathid biology and population wellness, providing crucial information for fisheries assessment and management strategies.</p>
