<p><i>Scylla olivacea</i> is becoming a popular export commodity due to its high market demand, and farming is rapidly expanding in Bangladesh. This study investigates the effect of body weight on seed production and survival rates in mud crabs. A total of 60 female crabs were collected from Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. Based on their body weight, collected crabs were classified into three categories: small (120–200&#xa0;g), medium (201–280&#xa0;g), and large (281–360&#xa0;g). The crabs were further reared in a controlled hatchery environment, maintained under optimum temperature (28.0 ± 1&#xa0;°C), salinity (30.0 ± 2 ppt), and aeration conditions to facilitate spawning, fecundity, and larval development. The mean fecundity observed was 1.67 ± 0.3&#xa0;million (M), with a range of 1.225–2.005&#xa0;M. Larval survival rate fluctuated throughout developmental stages; the highest observed in Zoea 1 and the lowest in crablet. The study also revealed that crabs from large categories showed better survival rates (3.2%) than other weight category. The study found a highly significant positive correlation between body weight and fecundity (<i>r</i> = 0.95, <i>p</i> &lt; 0.001), while larger crabs demonstrated a higher spawning rate (65%) compared to medium (35%) and small (25%) groups. Overall findings of this research indicate that large-sized berried crabs showed better reproductive success, reflecting the effects of body weight on seed production. The results recommend prioritizing larger broodstock to enhance seed production and survival rates to ensure sustainable growth of the mud crab aquaculture industry.</p>
