Biosynthesis and Characterization of Cymodocea serrulata-aided Copper Oxide Nanoparticles and an Evaluation of its Antibacterial Properties
摘要
The current research describes the biosynthesis and characterization of copper oxide nanoparticles using seagrass extract of Cymodocea serrulata through green chemistry, an eco-friendly and cost-effective method. The novelty of present study is to utilize the aqueous extract of Cymodocea serrulata for synthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles with antibacterial properties by green chemistry approach. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized using X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Synthesized nanoparticles were crystalline spherical within the range of 28 nm. The nanoparticles were tested for antibacterial activity against bacterial pathogens. It showed maximum inhibitory effect against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas species. The findings demonstrated that copper oxide nanoparticles have significant applications in various fields such as the biomedical domain.
