<p>The Global South is a major player in global sustainability related to climate change-energy transition nexus. The literature has been growing exponentially lately calling for updated and comprehensive reviews to capture the evolution of this field of inquiry. The paper engages with the novel research weaving approach that combines bibliometrics and systematic mapping to examine the current state and structure of scholarship put forward by various disciplinary silos. Overviewing a sample of 908 articles published during the last two decades, the analysis is set to explore how common understandings created by boundary concepts and underlying methodologies are translated into boundary settings where science-policy transfer is negotiated. The findings point to the wide array of concepts used to articulate socio-ecological and socio-technical energy transition frameworks of analysis; the pivotal role of methodological search for current research; and, the focus on providing guidance for context-sensitive policies. Future directions of research are outlined.</p>
