<p>The argan tree (<i>Argania spinosa</i> (L) Skeels) is the most important forest essence in North Africa, both for its ecological and economic interest and for its social value. Mycorrhizal fungi in the rhizospheric soil of the argan tree play key role in its development and tolerance to various incidents in its biotope. A survey of the endomycorrhizal fungi populations was conducted in 5 Moroccan argan forest stands located in Argana and Bouyzakarne (south), oued Grou and oued Cherrat (Center) and Benissnassen (north), to assess the natural diversity of their arbuscular mycorrhizal communities and to determine the mycorrhizal potential of their rhizospheric soils. Microscopic analysis of the argan roots revealed that all samples formed arbuscular mycorrhizae and the level of mycorrhizal colonization has always been very high (94 to 100%), reflecting the mycotrophic nature of Argan. Variability in colonization intensity and vesicular and arbuscular content was marked between argan forest stands. The number of AMF spores detected in field-collected soils was relatively high compared to other studies. Morphological characteristics indicated that spore populations consisted of 16 morphotypes in Benissnassen, 17 in Oued Cherrat, six in Oued Grou, 10 in Bouizakarne and 13 in Argana soils with abundance of the Glomeraceae family. However, the study of the mycorrhizogenic potential shows that the Bouizakarne soil has the highest number of propagules while the Benissnassen soil has the lowest number. Successful re-establishment of argan species is linked to the development of biotic components, particularly symbiotic microorganisms, which is why this study is so interesting.</p>
