Green synthesis, characterization and biological properties of copper nanoparticles using marine red alga Hypnea Pannosa J. Agardh
摘要
The study highlights the effectiveness of green chemistry principles in producing biogenic nanoparticles with substantial antimicrobial properties, offering a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to conventional methods. The present research is focused on the synthesis of copper nanoparticles utilizing marine macrophyte, H. pannosa and the synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by various spectroscopic and microscopic techniques. The production of CuNPs was validated through UV-vis spectra, which exhibited a prominent surface plasmon resonance peak at 364 nm. SEM images revealed nanoparticles with irregular morphologies, averaging 200 nm in size. EDAX analysis verified the elemental composition of the CuNPs, while FTIR spectra suggested the participation of biomolecules from the algal extract in both the synthesis and stabilization processes of the nanoparticles. The CuNPs exhibited significant antibacterial effects against against Bacillus sp. (15 mm). This eco-friendly approach to CuNP synthesis using H. pannosa extract demonstrates significant antibacterial potential and this is a novel agent can be used for combating antimicrobial resistance.
