<p>Violence against women in politics is a growing global phenomenon that poses a significant threat to democracy and human rights. We examine violence against women politicians in Albania—a partly free country that has made notable progress in increasing women’s participation in politics over the past decade. The growing number of women in politics is widely acknowledged and applauded, yet the violence they experience post-election remains largely unexamined. Twenty women politicians, purposefully selected, shared their stories of political violence, focusing on the types, motives, and impacts of the violence perpetrated against them. Women’s stories revealed the persistence of psychological and economic violence, and the difficulties of denouncing violent acts. The study contributes to a growing body of scholarly work on violence against women in politics across different contexts and offers insights for human rights advocates committed to ending violence against women and advancing gender equality reforms in politics.</p>
