<p>The research in human aging and ambient assisted living (AAL) systems plays an important role in improving healthcare and enhancing the quality of life, ultimately increasing life expectancy and quality of living. Access to relevant datasets is essential in today’s data-driven world and in conducting evidence-based studies on human aging. While some efforts have been made to centralize datasets, many remain scattered across articles, studies, and research project websites. We have conducted a thorough analysis of well-known literature databases, specifically IEEE Xplore, Springer, Elsevier, PubMed and MDPI, and identified articles that mention either the dataset or software. This paper presents a systematic mapping study of AAL research, resulting in a curated catalogue of 232 publications each with an associated dataset, distilled from an initial screening of 5042 articles. Our analysis reveals notable trends and gaps—for example, vision-based datasets currently dominate the field, whereas longitudinal monitoring data and certain modalities (e.g., audio) are markedly underrepresented. The article dataset was compiled via a systematic literature search using Preferred Reporting Items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) methodology, supplemented by NLP-based filtering, and manual review. The curated data are shared as XLSX metadata tables with accompanying summary statistics and visualizations, offering a centralized reference that enables rapid dataset discovery, supports cross-dataset benchmarking and reproducibility, and facilitates reuse in AAL and active aging applications.</p>
