<p>In the northern Cauca region of Colombia, community-based organizations are promoting worldviews and practices of resistance that prioritize intersubjective cultural links. They maintain a strong connection with the land, traditions, and ecosystems that provide a foundation for their community’s existential meaning and identity. Key factors in the analysis of cultural identities and communities’ autonomy include: the recovery of native seeds and traditional farming methods, along with the promotion of agro-ecological education. Two concepts —<i>ecological ethos</i> and <i>biocultural democracy</i>— can provide a framework for analyzing community practices in an ethical and political-ecological sense.</p>
