Comprehensive experimental investigation on using single size glass granular as partial replacement of sand on the fresh and mechanical, durability, thermal conductivity properties of mortar
摘要
Waste materials, particularly waste glass, pose significant recycling and environmental challenges due to their increasing quantity from widespread use and population growth. This article investigates the effects of single-size waste glass granular as a partial sand replacement in mortar at ten different ratios (0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 39, 35, 40, 45, -50%) on its fresh properties, mechanical, durability, and thermal conductivity, comparing the results to mortar modified with graded waste glass. The result obtained that due to the low ability of water absorption by waste glass granular compared to the sand, the increase of the usage of waste glass granular as sand replacement in the mortar increases the flow value of mortar, using waste glass granular with single size in the mortar as partial replacement of sand produce higher void inside the mortar which cause the decrease in the thermal conductivity, also due to the produced void between mix particles, also due to the smooth surface of the glass granular the obtained value of the compressive and flexural strength will be lower with the increase of the usage of waste glass granular compare to the control mix.
