<p>Ensuring the resilience of road infrastructure projects is essential for sustaining economic growth and maintaining reliable transportation networks, particularly amid unpredictable disruptions. This study identifies key factors that influence road infrastructure resilience. We identified multiple contributing factors by applying a systems thinking approach and conducting an extensive literature review. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) revealed nine critical factors accounting for 76.29% of the total variance. The most significant was monitoring road facilities and weather conditions (19.119%), followed by monitoring vehicle and traffic conditions (14.412%) and assessing road surface and pavement conditions (11.476%). Other factors included roadside conditions (8.963%), road drainage systems (6.502%), logistics and supply chain management (5.034%), social and economic recovery (4.842%), technical and engineering recovery (3.046%), and administrative and organizational recovery (2.896%). These factors were quantitatively evaluated through weighted scoring and statistical analysis using case studies of national road infrastructure in Burundi affected by landslides and rising lake waters. Results indicated that all factors were statistically significant, with mean scores ranging from 4.293 to 3.793. This emphasizes their key role in building resilient infrastructure and promoting lasting sustainability. This research enriches the growing body of knowledge on infrastructure resilience, providing a solid foundation for improving resilience strategies and informing decision-making in road infrastructure development.</p>
