<p>Based on the Schwinger source theory, an alternative derivation of the scattering cross section of non-relativistic bremsstrahlung is provided. In this approach, the vacuum persistence amplitude of the source theory is replaced by the wave function&#xa0;<InlineEquation ID="IEq1"> <InlineMediaObject> <ImageObject Color="BlackWhite" FileRef="40995_2025_1819_Article_IEq1.gif" Format="GIF" Height="13" Rendition="HTML" Resolution="72" Type="Linedraw" Width="19" /> </InlineMediaObject> <EquationSource Format="TEX">\(\otimes\)</EquationSource> <EquationSource Format="MATHML"><math> <mo>⊗</mo> </math></EquationSource> </InlineEquation>&#xa0;vacuum persistence amplitude. It is then shown that the imaginary part of this amplitude automatically yields the scattering cross-section and the intensity of radiation. The Bethe–Heitler cross section is recovered in the Born approximation.</p>

Source Theory Approach to Non-relativistic Bremsstrahlung

摘要

Based on the Schwinger source theory, an alternative derivation of the scattering cross section of non-relativistic bremsstrahlung is provided. In this approach, the vacuum persistence amplitude of the source theory is replaced by the wave function  \(\otimes\)  vacuum persistence amplitude. It is then shown that the imaginary part of this amplitude automatically yields the scattering cross-section and the intensity of radiation. The Bethe–Heitler cross section is recovered in the Born approximation.
