Preparation and Characterization of Marine Collagen Scaffolds for Biomedical Applications
摘要
The present work deals with the preparation of collagen scaffolds using the collagen isolated from spotted seer fish. The spotted seer fish collagen (SFC) scaffold was characterized using scanning electron microscope (SEM), UV-visible spectroscopy, and fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Contact angle, tensile strength, swelling ratio, and porosity measurements were carried out using various procedures. Hemolytic assay carried out using human red blood cells (RBCs) and MTT assay performed using NIH3T3 fibroblasts confirmed the hemocompatible and cytocompatible behaviour of SFC scaffold.
Lay SummaryCollagen was isolated from spotted seer fish and used for the preparation of SFC scaffolds. The SFC scaffolds are cytocompatible and can be used for biomedical applications.
