<p>Zucchini production in Iraq occurs year-round through different cropping systems, open fields, and greenhouses, and the constant presence of the host allows for the maintenance of high whitefly super vector (<i>Bemisia tabaci</i>) populations, leading to virus disease outbreaks. Here, we report a high incidence (40 to 50%) of viral symptoms in zucchini fields in Al-Yusufiyah county, Baghdad province, Iraq. High-throughput sequencing and confirmatory PCR revealed mixed infections involving squash leaf curl virus (SLCuV, <i>Begomovirus cucurbitapeponis</i>), tomato leaf curl Palampur virus<i> (</i>ToLCPalV<i>, </i><i>Begomovirus solanumpalampurense)</i>, squash vein yellowing virus (SqVYV, <i>Ipomovirus cucurbitavenaflavi</i>), and Cucumber vein yellowing virus (CVYV). Sequence comparisons and phylogenetic analyses reported that most of the virus isolates from the present study are closely related to isolates previously reported from the Middle East, except for CVYV, which is most closely related to isolates from the Mediterranean Basin. This study expands the knowledge of the geographic distribution of SLCuV, ToLCPalV, SqVYV, and CVYV, contributes to the repository of near complete ipomoviruses sequences in the GenBank, and shows the high incidence and diversity of zucchini-infecting viruses in Iraq.</p>
