The impact of using the internet to seek health information on individual health
摘要
Drawing on data from the 2021 Chinese General Social Survey, this study explores the impact of using the internet-based search for health-related information on individual health and discovers that using the internet to search for health information is conducive to improving individual health. The outcomes of the research indicate that searching for health information via the internet heightens an individual’s reassurance perception about health issues, which improves individual health. Furthermore, the results of the heterogeneity analysis show that using the internet to seek health information enhances individual health among people with chronic health problems or disabilities. The research enriches the application of the conservation of resources theory and provides empirical support for a more in-depth understanding of the relationship between internet use and health.
