摘要

The aim of this article is to analyze the effects of Christianity on poverty in sub-Saharan African countries. Using a panel of 35 countries from 2000 to 2020 and the instrumental variables method. Our results show a positive relationship between the practice of religious activities and the persistence of poverty in the region. As these effects may increase in the long term, we need to ensure that the supply of religious goods and services is regulated. This means controlling compliance with the formalities for setting up a church, and strictly supervising the internal activities of churches and religious movements. So that they can better contribute to the development of the countries in the region.
