Numerical study of the formation of zones of water pollution from coastal enterprises
摘要
This paper presents the results of numerical modeling of benzene concentration propagation in the Ural River channel using computational fluid dynamics methods. A periodic non-stationary benzene discharge with a mass flow rate of 9.185 tons per year, as well as cases of mass flow rate increase by 2 and 4 times, were considered. The modeling covered a 12-h period, starting from the moment of periodic non-stationary discharge of the pollutant. The results showed that in the initial hours, benzene propagates along the river flow mainly linearly, gradually increasing the polluted area. The periodic nature of the discharge ensured temporary dissolution of the previous concentration before the appearance of a new pulse. After 4 h, vortex structures are formed at the interface of river and sea currents, which cause a local increase in the pollutant concentration. An increase in the discharge rate leads to an increase in high concentration zones and an expansion of the polluted area. The findings emphasize the importance of monitoring the discharge rate and time intervals between emissions to reduce environmental risks. These studies can be used to develop measures to manage pollution and minimize the impact on the Ural River ecosystem.
