Petroelastic modeling of well logging and seismic inversion data combining rock physics templates and conventional petrophysical analysis for 1D, 2D, and 3D supervised reservoir characterization of the Stybarrow Field in Exmouth sub-basin inner Carnarvon Basin, Australia
摘要
In this research, a workflow is presented that integrates the application of a rock physics model, called self-consistent method SCM, for the development of rock physics templates and conventional petrophysical analysis. These methods were used for the petroelastic analysis of well logs and seismic inversion data from the Stybarrow Field in the Carnarvon Basin, Australia. Four well datasets were analyzed. A petrophysical analysis was first conducted to identify the producing zone reported in the literature. Subsequently, a Lambda-Rho-Mu-Ro (λρ-μρ) rock physics template was modeled using the SCM, incorporating the results of the mineralogical composition obtained from the petrophysical analysis. This analysis identified three main mineralogical components: K-feldspar, quartz, and clay, associated with four lithological combinations: shale, quartz sandstones, feldspathic sandstones (arkose), and clayey sandstones. Using the resulting RPT, the elastic parameter data from the well logs were analyzed, enabling the identification of different lithologies within the well column and the hydrocarbon-producing interval reported in the literature. This template was then applied to the seismic inversion data of the Stybarrow Field, facilitating the propagation of lithological characterization and the identification of hydrocarbon-saturated areas across the entire seismic volume (1D, 2D, and 3D). The results were profiles of 1D lithotype, correlation of reservoir intervals, volume of clastic facies, volume of total porosity, 3D faults pattern, and reservoir delineation. These novel workflows can assist in defining prospective zones or intervals of economic interest at both the well and seismic scales, positively impacting key processes in hydrocarbon exploration and production.
