Fractures analysis in the Takelsa basin (northeastern Tunisia) using field data and automatic extraction for groundwater investigation
摘要
This study is carried out on the Takelsa Basin for the goal of fractures analysis using field data and automatic extraction for groundwater investigation. Fractures increase the porosity and permeability of the water reservoirs, facilitate the flow of the groundwater through interconnected fractures, and facilitate the groundwater recharge. Field approach is performed by several geometric measures and observations. Rose diagrams of fractures directions are determined by Win-Tensor software. Six principal direction groups of fractures have been revealed which are: NE–SW, NW–SE, E–W, N–S, WNW–ESE and ENE–WSW.
The automatic extraction of lineaments is carried out from the Sentinel S2MSI2A image using the PCI Geomatica program (edge detection, thresholding and curve extraction) and is performed by the Gaussian original model. The lineament automatic extraction is performed by Multi Spectral Instrument (13 bands with a resolution of 10 m, 20 m and 60 m), composite band (SWIR-2, SWIR-1 and blue), Canny algorithm (Gaussian smoothing, the gradient magnitude and the edge strength), enhancement algorithm (using Line algorithm) and Geographic Information System (ArcGis software). The resulting lineaments map is superimposed with the topographic and geological maps in order to elaborate the fractures map. Fractures direction rose diagram shows the dominance of NW–SE, NE-SW, N-S, and E-W orientations. The length rose diagram shows that the longest fractures are oriented almost E-W. The generated fractures density map indicates a very high to high density in the Center, South-east and North-east of the study region.
