摘要

This study examines the wear and corrosion characteristics of Al7079 alloy matrix composites that are strengthened with boron nitride (BN) and aloe vera particles. These composites are produced using the stir casting method. The microstructural investigation indicated that the Al7079 matrix had a consistent and even distribution of reinforcements. X-ray diffraction reveals the presence of reinforcement particles. The wear performance was assessed by examining the impact of sliding velocity (ranging from 1 to 3 m/s) and applied load (ranging from 20 to 60 N). Higher wear loss was observed for all compositions as the sliding velocity and applied load increased. Nevertheless, the addition of BN and aloe vera reinforcements successfully reduced the extent of wear loss in comparison to the alloy without reinforcements. Additionally, the reinforcements provided corrosion resistance, as evidenced by a 27% decrease in weight loss when the BN concentration was doubled. Al7079 composites, which were strengthened with BN and aloe vera particles, exhibited improved resistance to wear and corrosion when compared to the alloy without reinforcement. These composites show great potential for use in applications that need excellent performance in terms of wear and corrosion.
