Integrated underwater imaging framework and review
摘要
The underwater imaging has diverse scope ranging from marine engineering, environmental science, ocean engineering, defense, sustainable development, applied sciences, and other engineering fields. The existing surveys in the field of underwater imaging rely on one parameter and present a comprehensive review limited to the scope of parameter. This paper provides a structured approach to organize the complex underwater imaging field through multiple parameters. This survey proposes an integrated underwater imaging (IUI) framework based on five parameters namely Domain, Medium, Modality, Dataset and Region, respectively. The IUI framework allows user to create an underwater imaging model based on parametric level formulation dependent on user requirement and problem statement. An integrative literature review is presented towards each parameter to provide parameter level and integrated understanding of underwater imaging field. The challenges across each parameter and future recommendations are provided to serve as motivation for future research in underwater imaging field.
