Association between Sleep Quality and Gait Speed in Healthy Young and Older Adults - A Systematic Review
摘要
This systematic review was steered forward with the aim of analyzing whether there is any relation between parameters of gait and poor sleep quality among healthy adults.
Recent FindingsThe review process followed PRISMA guidelines. All studies included healthy adults, with three studies including young adults and three including older adults as the included population. Most of the studies on older adults found an association between slower gait speed and poorer sleep quality. Studies on young adults were heterogeneous hence, a conclusion could not be reached.
SummaryThis review revealed that gait speed was correlated with sleep quality in older adults, whereas such a relationship could not be established for young adults. Consequently, further research is needed in this area.
