摘要

This study examines the news reports concerning the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) published by the Vietnamese-language news website of CRI Online (vietnamese.cri.cn) from 2020 to 2024 as the objects of analysis (n = 405). Applying content analysis, it examines the characteristics of these reports in terms of quantity, genre, information sources, themes, relevance and sentiment, and further delves into their narrative strategies across various domains including political diplomacy, economy, and transportation infrastructure development. The research reveals that CRI's Vietnamese version seeks to construct a favorable image of the BRI, highlighting its positive contributions to global connectivity, regional economic growth, and the improvement of livelihoods. However, there is still potential for optimization in strategies concerning source selection, narrative voice, and responses to controversies. To enhance the effectiveness of precision communication to Vietnam, it is recommended to increase the relatability of reports, optimize localized expression, and pay attention to the art of communication.
