摘要

This special issue examines the evolving intersections of artificial intelligence (AI), strategic communication, and culture. Sparked by discussions at the 2024 Global Strategic Communication Conclave, the issue responds to growing scholarly interest in AI not merely as a technological tool, but as a transformative force embedded within communication infrastructures and practices. To make sense of the conceptual diversity in this emerging field, we propose a three-dimensional framework for positioning research: (1) the level at which culture is conceptualized (macro, meso, or micro), (2) the role AI plays in communication (as generator or communicator), and (3) the analytic focus on AI’s use versus public or institutional perceptions. This coordinate system provides a structured lens for synthesizing studies that often diverge in theoretical and methodological orientation. While not exhaustive, it serves as a conceptual guide to future work at the intersection of AI and strategic communication. The issue also highlights the growing importance of AI as a research tool itself, further expanding the field’s methodological and epistemological horizons.
