摘要

Ovarian neuroendocrine neoplasms (O-NENs) account for approximately 1–2% of all ovarian tumours. Two main histological subtypes of O-NENs can be distinguished: carcinoid tumours and neuroendocrine carcinomas, which differ significantly in their biological behaviour and, consequently, in their prognosis. What these neoplasms share, however, is the lack of clearly-defined clinical management, owing primarily to their rarity. In most cases, the neuroendocrine nature of these tumours is only identified upon histological examination, while the preoperative diagnostic pathway largely mirrors that used for epithelial ovarian tumours. Although interest in this neoplasm has grown in recent years, the literature mainly consists of case reports or small case series. Due to the lack of data from large patient populations, a shared and standardised management strategy has yet to be defined.
