Entrepreneurial finance in the context of COVID-19 and post-pandemic challenges: a bibliometric and content analysis
摘要
In times of financial crunch, entrepreneurs face difficulty raising funds for their startups. Using bibliometrics and content analyses, this study highlights current trends, core concepts, and knowledge mapping related to entrepreneurial finance in COVID-19. For this purpose, 375 research articles were retrieved from the Scopus database for 2020-2023. Along with investigating the most prominent authors, institutions, and countries, a comprehensive review using co-citation and co-word analysis was conducted. The findings revealed that a few key areas serve as the foundation for science mapping on the topic. Avenues such as female entrepreneurs, sources of finance, changing regulations, strict meeting deadlines, delayed payments from customers and reduced revenues, varying customer behaviours, reduction in the size of the workforce, and constrained supply chains remained the center of attraction for researchers. Despite the negative consequences, the crisis also helped accelerate digital transformation. Many creative ventures based on Edtech, FinTech, e-commerce, entertainment, and cybersecurity have grasped huge market shares. We also found that a diverse group of researchers from a rich portfolio of countries and institutions have published research articles in top-tier journals. Finally, research gaps and future research directions are identified.
