The Damask rose, or Rosa damascena, is referred to as the "King of flowers" or Gole Mohammadi is regarded as one of the most essential species within the Rosaceae family. It is primarily cultivated for essential oil and rose water, in addition to other commercial products such as dried flowers, rose hips, rose concrete, and rose absolute. Despite being an ornamental plant and being used in perfume industry, it has been proved to be effective by showing certain pharmacological activities.
Recent FindingsThe review consists of significant information about various biological parts of the plant used, its phytochemical composition as well as activities like antimicrobial, antioxidant, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic. It has also shown positive effects in neuro-protection and memory enhancement, cardiac effects, hypnotic effect, anticonvulsant, respiratory and anti-ageing effect.
