A Systematic Review of Interventions on Self-Determination for Autistic Individuals and Those with a Learning Disability: an Ecological Approach
摘要
Developing self-determination for autistic young people and those with a learning disability can improve adulthood outcomes and quality of life. Understanding self-determination through an ecological framework, which accounts for the interaction between the individual and their environment, can bridge the gap between intervention research and educational practice. This systematic review brings together all interventions aimed at developing global self-determination for autistic young people and those with a learning disability aged 15–25. Overall, 27 articles met the inclusion criteria, evaluating 19 different self-determination interventions. There is emerging evidence that interventions conducted in real-world settings can improve self-determination for autistic young people and those with a learning disability; however, further research is needed on the role of different aspects of the environment.
