摘要

This research examines the intricate dynamics of a discrete-time predator–prey model that includes both prey cannibalism and prey refuge. By modifying an existing model to incorporate prey refuge, we illustrate how this element substantially improves the system’s stability. An in-depth examination of fixed points, bifurcations, and chaos management methodologies indicates that prey refuge mitigates the destabilizing effects of cannibalism, hence promoting a more balanced predator–prey interaction. Numerical simulations validate these results and underscore the significance of prey refuge as a stabilizing factor. The findings have substantial practical implications for ecological management, indicating that the incorporation of refuge strategies into conservation programs can prevent species extinction, stabilize population dynamics, and enhance ecosystem resilience.
