Tribological improvement of cast iron surface modified by gas nitriding texturing in rotary compressors
摘要
The tribological improvement of cast iron surface by composite strengthening of laser texturing and gas nitriding is analyzed experimentally, and verified by crankshaft application for rolling piston rotary compressors. The friction coefficients and wear topographies are compared with other surface modifications by ring-on-ring mates. And the geometric influence of textured parameters is also investigated. The results indicate that the strong interaction between laser texturing and gas nitriding can effectively decrease the friction coefficient in mixed lubrication. A reduction of 71.95% and 89.94% can be obtained under rich- or poor-oil conditions, respectively. Gas nitriding hardening of the substrate surface enhances support for laser texturing and reduces squeezing deformation. The micro-textures provide an additional hydrodynamic effect to elevate the load-carrying capacity of the oil film. The compressor performance can be improved by 1.25%, and simultaneously, the severe adhesive wear can also be significantly reduced, especially under poor-oil conditions and high applied loads.
