Study on improving the mixing degree of a twin spiral mixer by changing the mixing mode using inverse spiral wings
摘要
In this paper, we evaluate the mixing degree by simulating the mixing process of a twin spiral mixer with DEM (discrete element method) and then, based on this, describe the problem of increasing the mixing degree by changing the mixing mode by installing the inverse spiral wings at regular intervals in a twin spiral mixer. The twin spiral mixer has the advantage of low volume and continuity of mixing work, but the same type of wings installed in the mixer makes mixing only in the forward stirring mode, so mixing cannot be increased to a certain level. By installing one inverse spiral wing at regular intervals in the wing arrangement, the mixing mode was converted from the forward stirring mode of the single wings to the mixing mode where the forward and backward movements of the materials were combined. Inverse spiral wings with opposite spiral direction to the normal spiral wings on the axis of the spiral wings were installed at the ratios of 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1 to analyze the velocity of the particles, increase behavior of material flow cross section, the advanced length of the particles. In addition, comparing the mixing degree for the conventional twin spiral mixer and the twin spiral mixer with the inverse spiral wings, it was 0.7797 for the conventional mode, 0.8013 for the 2:1 mode, 0.81 for the 3:1 mode and 0.7907 for the 4:1 mode, with the best 3:1 mode, and the outputs were 89.1W, 429.7W, 287.8W and 151.5W, respectively.
