摘要

Purpose of Review

Sexual dysfunction (SD) is commonly seen among men undergoing methadone maintenance treatment (MMT), which can affect the quality of life and treatment trajectory of clients. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of SD among men receiving methadone treatment through a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Recent Findings

The databases PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Embase, as well as the Google Scholar search engine, were systematically searched using relevant keywords. All related studies published up to mid-August 2025 were reviewed. A random effects model was used for data analysis, and the I² index was employed to assess data heterogeneity. Based on analyses of 19 studies, the overall prevalence of SD among men undergoing methadone maintenance treatment was obtained equal to 60.6% (95% CI: 47.8–72.1%). The highest prevalence of SD was observed among men undergoing treatment in Asia, with a prevalence of 65.4% (95% CI: 50.9–77.9%).

Summary

There is a high prevalence of SD among men undergoing MMT. The results highlight the importance of addressing sexual issues within treatment programs and underscore the need for more comprehensive assessments of clients’ sexual health.
