<p>The British withdrawal from the European Union (Brexit) had implications in the sport sector as it had in other sectors, yet the Withdrawal Agreement and the Trade and Cooperation Agreement signed between the UK and the EU contains almost no sport-specific provisions. As this article will show, the lack of interest in protecting the specificity of sport cannot be traced back to parliamentary work, as the effects of Brexit upon immigration and employment effects relevant to sport featured high in the work of the House of Lords. The article draws on parliamentary records to extract evidence of what seems, then, to have been a genuine interest in the issues and a willingness to take them into account. That the texts finally agreed with the EU did not take these concerns into account in any meaningful way forms the basis for a discussion of the specificity of sport as opposed to a mechanical and sport-blind horizontal application of the law.</p>
