摘要

This article examines the modern revival and evolving legal significance of the Olympic Truce at the intersection of transnational sports law and public international law. Drawing on archival materials, UN General Assembly resolutions, and case law of relevance from the Court of Arbitration for Sport, it traces how the Olympic Truce developed from an IOC-led initiative into what can be regarded as an instrument of public international law through its repeated recognition in resolutions of the UN General Assembly. The article analyses the differing legal framings of the Olympic Truce across legal orders, its role in safeguarding the Olympic Games, and the challenges related to its practical application. It suggests that strengthening the Truce within public international law, potentially as customary international law, could enhance its normative authority within transnational sports law.
